Our COVID-19 Response

As the world works out its best response to this global pandemic, America’s Boating Club Houston has had to also make some decisions. We are cancelling and / or postponing in-person events until further notice. This includes all classes, meetings, and outings. Safety is at the heart of everything we do, so this response is completely in-line with our mission. If you have registered for an upcoming event, you will be contacted by the instructor or event coordinator with our plan for that event and any options you may have in response.

Our Commander, Susie Becvar, and her Board of Directors will review the situation on a weekly basis and comments will be posted here of their decisions until we get the “all clear”.

In the meantime, stay safe. Avoid large crowds. Wash your hands. Try not to touch your face. And, keep in mind that the most vulnerable population are the elderly and those with preexisting conditions. If you know of folks in that category, look for ways to keep them safe, fed, and happy.

Our Chief Commander, Mary Paige Abbott issued the following statement:

  1. America’s Boating Club Houston continues to function remotely.

The national office has informed squadron commanders that their physical office will remain closed through this week per the following message:

Due to the continued spread of COVID-19, USPS Headquarters will remain closed through March 27, 2020. I will reevaluate at that time and keep you informed.

We appreciate your support as we deal with this challenging situation. Please say safe and healthy.

  2. Check out our exceptional list of courses and seminars we are still providing during this time! We have had hundreds attend our webconference-delivered seminars and courses and we continue to help educate using this method very effectively! We are also opening up ABC3 courses, with proper safeguards, in order to help new boaters get outdoors and stay safe and compliant with Texas state law.
