Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service. It combines public service, emergency preparedness and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
This year the “Bay Neigh Amateur Radio Club” KI5TUX will operate Field Day from Home Port in Bellaire, Texas.
Field Day is June 24-25. The objective is to contact as many other amateur radio stations around the world on the 160-, 80-, 40-, 20-,15- and 10-Meter HF bands, as well as all VHF and UHF bands, and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. Learn more about the ARRL Field Day by clicking here. Operating the event from Home Port will bring us fresh coffee, iced tea and air conditioning!
Our equipment will be new and fully functional. Don’t know how to operate? No problems – we teach you – and we always have fun! You don’t need to be a ham radio operator to come and have fun. There is a legal way for you to operate a radio with the
oversight of a licensed amateur radio operator. There is no cost to operate, but we will ‘pass the hat’ for food and additional beverages. This is a one-day event for the Bay Neigh Amateur Radio Club (Saturday) so come and visit and operate.
