First Aid for Mariners – A Practical Approach

Join Mr. Chris Leavitt, past Commander of the Houston Power Squadron and former Sea Scout Skipper, and a coastal and blue-water sailor as he presents this topic with Alan Cross, the Houston Squadron’s Education Officer and a Wilderness/Maritime First Aid instructor.

Develop an understanding of why first aid is an important part of your boating education and preparation.  This presentation gives you information on how you can make plans to move forward with appropriate levels of first aid training.

As a recreational boater, understand the differences between Standard First Aid and Wilderness First Aid, and how your boating type (inland lakes & waterways, coastal cruising or blue water cruising) and the type of vessel you operate (power or sail) and how these variables will influence your decisions on the level of recommended training.
