“Conversations with Chris” – Maritime History

Event Phone: (713) 517-2204

Maritime History

Join Mr. Chris Leavitt, past Commander of the Houston Power Squadron and former Sea Scout Skipper, and a coastal and blue-water sailor as he discusses the rich points of maritime history in the United States.  Chris will tell the story of the US Power Squadron inception and our response to helping the US Navy in times of conflict.  He will also talk about a moment almost lost in history about West Coast ‘Sea Scouts’ helping to outfit troop transport ships during WWII.

Everyone will enjoy this conversation with Chris!   It will be fun – informative – lively – and from an excellent storytelling historian.  This Conversation is Free to everyone.

Sea Scout youth participants will be able to work on an Able rank elective (Maritime History) where you will describe the highlights of maritime history from the earliest times to the present. Include the evolution of vessel construction and propulsion, important voyages of exploration and development, the origin of maritime traditions, and the achievements of notable maritime leaders in U.S. sea history.

Please, enter the teleconference early, and
after you announce yourself, mute your audio.
