Cooperative Charting is a public service event where our members get on-the-water, survey a set list of aids to navigation, then record and report our findings.
It is a good day on and around the water; a great public service event, and a wonderful teaching aid to new boaters. We will need several powerboats, a few participants with a cell phone camera and the Solocator application loaded, and help to record the condition of the aids to navigation we survey. The Houston Squadron is responsible for two areas around Clear Lake, the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay. It is a great way to see navigation aids up close!
If you are interested, please sign up. It’s free! The Cooperative Charting Chair of the Houston Squadron, Lt Corey Bloom, P, will work with all volunteers on assignment areas and the basic education for doing the survey effectively and safely. This is a great event for youth, young adults and new boaters! For more detailed information, please contact our Squadron Executive Officer (Lt/C Al Meyer, JN) and he will answer your questions or route your questions to the best person to answer your question.
If you have a boat and want an excuse to do a ‘slow drive on the Bay’, contact Al Meyer! After the event, we will meet for a late lunch at the Seabrook Classic Café and talk about our adventure! This is a youth and kid friendly event.
Signups are limited to the number of vessels we can put on-the-water with the number of folks participating. Learn more about Cooperative Charting by clicking this link.
