Cruising Under Power and Sail

Event Phone: Steve Sheward (832) 512-9582

This class covers the Cruising Under Power and Sail course.

This is a great “first course” to take.  It will be taught on the listed schedule.  This class is predominately done as a teleconference.  The first dates are instruction, followed by an overall review, and finally the exam.  If you cannot make it to one or more of the instruction dates, you should be okay.  The course typically takes 10 weeks of instruction and review and will help you prepare for the upcoming boating and local cruising season!

Students and instructors will coordinate any sessions around any major holiday. Please plan on attending the cruise presentations, review and exam, as they must be done in person (typically 1-day at Home Port, or the home of the instructor, a teleconference option will be available for those outside of Houston or unable to travel).

For every student enrolled in this course, the Houston Squadron will offer a free First Aid/CPR/AED course oriented to the maritime community.  The First Aid course will be conducted at Home Port.

This is an online (teleconference) conducted course. There is nothing for you to do in preparation for the teleconference. Please login to the teleconference 5 minutes early.  Meeting link: Sail | Microsoft Teams | Meetup-Join

The book is required for the course, one per family.
