Fires, Flares and Fun … …
Come join the Houston Squadron as we meet at Sea Star Base Galveston on Sunday, October 25, 2020, from 1 – 5 PM. Participants will learn and use the skills required for using a fire extinguisher and handling / using flares (bright, smoke and aerial). Every boater should have the skills necessary to fight a small fire and signal for rescue. This activity provides just that!
Successful completion of this educational activity will satisfy the requirements for portions of the Boat Operator Certification program. The Boat Operator Certification program recognizes the skills of America’s Boating Club members at different levels of recreational boating proficiency. A certified boat operator will represent the fulfillment of an America’s Boating Club training program: an operator who is knowledgeable, competent and safe. All materials and equipment will be supplied. Advanced registration is requested so we may let our host, Sea Star Base Galveston, know how many attendees there will be and a roster of who will be on their premises.
Participants must be on-site no later than 12:30 PM on Sunday to be checked in and attend the safety briefing. After the activity, the Houston Squadron is planning on gathering at a dining facility for an evening meal (dining and dancing is on your own dime) before making the long trek home.
