Geodetic Mark Weekend

DeodeticTransparent197America’s Boating Club Houston promotes the Geodetic Mark Program in coordination with NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) by reporting status on geodetic markers in the Greater Houston Metroplex area.

This is our first ever geodetic marker activity!

The Squadron will do this activity as a family unit to have some fun, complete a public service, and enjoy the activity in your neighborhood area.  All information about where and how to locate a marker, then document the effort, will be provided via email (if you register) and a teleconference (Friday, May 29, 2020) on how to use the software and hints-and-kinks on finding and documenting a mark.  Information on the teleconference and the program will be sent via email to those registered.

The Squadron has two kits (for loan) with all the items you would need to search for, locate and collect documentation; and information on these items will be provided to those registered.  If you have any questions about the event, please contact Lt./C Amy Taylor.

There will be another Squadron-level event on Geodetic Survey Markers in October, 2020.  Check out the calendar for for more information and registration.

  1. Hello again, Steve Bryant here,

I have located the original email which provides two separate and distinct links obviously intended for or related to the Zoom meeting. The two links could be indicative of an error in the link address. I have seen that often these days; if that is the case, it’s best detected early.

Another issue that concerns me is that there is no associated conference identification number or pass word. Some Zoom conferences require them for access as it has been my experiences before. I know that in some instances, log in steps aren’t necessary; but, then again, I don’t really know what to anticipate with regard to accessing this conference.

I hope you don’t mind me expressing my concern here now. I know I will be more at ease having voiced these concerns now rather than fretting over them Friday, May 29 at 6:00PM. I wish you Great Success!

Thank you for taking on this project (to include all the others you are sponsoring!)

    Best wishes,

    Steve
