Come Have Fun Kayaking at Galveston Island State Park
Have fun kayaking on urban waterways with other paddlers who have taken our Level 1 Kayaking Class and have joined ABC Houston. We’ll conduct a short briefing of the Level 1 waters to be travelled, a safety meeting and then on-the-water! We will paddle about 2 hours. This day we will be at Galveston Island State Park (Bay Side). If there is a weather event, signees will be contacted as soon as possible.
Bring your own kayak if you have one. The boating club has six (6) kayaks to use, first come, first served (everything is included). Some rendezvous spots have rentals. Remember your life jacket, a sound producing device, a visual signaling device, a small first aid kid, snacks and water! Lunch is by individual, or the group can elect to find a local eatery to continue the fun. Contact Cathy Leavitt (phone number above) with any questions.
If you are new to the program, America’s Boating Club Houston will provide a short but complete
vessel safety examination of your paddle craft. We will look specifically for the required safety equipment. We will also supply identification stickers for your craft if you don’t currently have one!
