A primary goal of America's Boating Club Houston is “boating safety through education” — we believe that an educated boater is a safer boater. We promote a high standard of skill in the handling and navigation of boats, power, sail and paddle; encourage and promote the study of the science of navigation, weather, seamanship and small boat handling; and promote education programs for the benefit of members and the general public.
America's Boating Club teaches a series of outstanding courses that cover advanced seamanship, navigational techniques, and boat handling, maintenance, and enhancement topics. Take a look at our offerings – and join a class!
The Boat Handling course is a classroom-based course designed to build your competence and confidence with an in-depth study of the practical aspects of boating through education and skills. It is the basis of all of our advanced courses. We do offer an on-the-water addition to this course.
The Seven Principles of Leave No Trace provide an easily
understood framework of minimum impact practices for
anyone visiting the outdoors - including our recreational
maritime environment. Our training is helping to instill an
outdoor ethic in all those who enjoy spending time
outside and on-the-water.
First Aid/CPR/AED & Wilderness First Aid
A standard level First Aid, CPR and AED course is an important addition to your boating education. Keep current and keep safe with this US Coast Guard approved education
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. Great course for blue-water cruisers and those on extended voyages.
America's Boating Club Houston offers some courses exclusively to members. These courses are designed to help further the cause of America's Boating Club by furthering the education of our members so that they can deliver on our promise of safer boating through education.
